Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie e. V. (DIK) is one of the world’s leading rubber research and development centres.

DIK is an independent non-profit research institution which cooperates closely with
Wirtschaftsverband der deutschen Kautschuk Industrie e. V. (WDK), Deutschen Kautschuk-Gesellschaft e. V. (DKG), Leibniz Universität Hannover and with industry.

DIK’s main areas of research are:

- Chemistry and physics of rubber and elastomers

- Processes of rubber technology

- Characterization of rubber and plastic composites

- Service lifetime prediction, ageing processes and simulation of rubber products and composites

- environmental and trace analysis

- supportive services for industry

The institute’s wide-ranging interdisciplinary organization is a crucial factor in its uniqueness. A team of engineers, physicists, chemists and highly-trained technicians employ modern sophisticated equipment to tailor solutions for our customers and project partners.

DIK provides intensive education courses in rubber sciences and technology. Cooperation with the University of Hannover and partnerships with institutes all over the world enhance our innovative potential and international credibility.

Every two years, DIK hosts the Fall Rubber Colloquium (KHK). The conference highlights the latest and most important scientific concepts and advanced processing techniques in rubber and polymer science and technology. KHK is a platform where internationally recognized industrial experts identify future trends in the rubber industry, researchers present their work and the findings of their studies and the elastomer community meet to share ideas and to discuss new   developments.
